Description:
Set of six tin sconces, for which a note in the Emma Lewis Coleman (1853-1942) inventory states: "of mixed metals made in Tiffany Studios, New York." The back or wallplate acted both to reflect light and to protect the wall from the candle flame. The sconces have a pointed arch tops with a rolled edge; over repousee flower heads and floral spray on the backs; over a shallow rounded pan with five candle sockets; and two sheet supports and a ring-shaped hanger on the back. Tiffany Studios (1902–32) operated on Fourth Avenue in New York City.
