Description:
Silver teaspoon with an upturned spatulate-end handle and elliptical bowl with a rounded drop and lobed shell, which is marked "I [pellet] B" in a shaped rectangle possibly for James Butler (1713-1776) of Boston. Kane notes: "Few pieces of silver bear Butler's initial and surname mark. Initial marks have been attributed to the silvesmith, but there is not sufficient evidence to support such attribution."
