Large cylinderical teapot with curving shoulders, pinched waist, and curving base, faceted on all sides, round base; attached s-shaped spout is also faceted, molded handle has a small leaf at top of curve; circular plain lid with pierced hole (lid is not original to the teapot), finial on lid is similar in shape to an onion dome, both the teapot and lid are covered in a manganese black lead glaze, attached old paper tag is inscribed in ink, "Enos Adams Pottery/ Bennington about 1870" as well as printed "LENT BY/ CHARLES B. GATES BURTON N. GATES/ 24 CHARLOTTE ST., WORCESTER, MASS." This object was originally in the collection of Burton N. Gates.
