Description:
Small red earthenware ovoid shaped pitcher with footed base, flat bottom, rounded edge to base, curved, swelled sides, sharply indented shoulder, flaring straight neck, spout is formed from pinching the top rim, applied strap handled with ribbing, a decorative coggled band of repeating rectangles has been applied to the shoulder, and vertical manganese sponging appears on the neck, handle, and belly of the pitcher, covered with a clear lead glaze. Inscribed in pencil on the base, “Col. Worcester” Formerly part of the Burton N. Gates Collection.
