Silver teaspoon with a pointed oval bowl, rounded shoulders, and downturned double-swell fiddle handle with a short front mid-rib, which is marked "J.MOULTON" in a rectangle, and engraved with the initials "JSW" in script on the handle. This spoon is one of a collection of silver spoons from the Viola Wilby estate, and probably belonged to the Wells family. An attched white paper tag reads" "J. Moulton / Newburyport (1744-1816)." However, this is Joseph Moulton IV (1814-1903) who worked in Newburyport from c.1838-1860. Louse Belden notes that a similar mark had been attributed to Joseph Moulton III (1744-1816), but is now thought to be by Joseph Moulton IV.
