Description:
"Corporal Jonathan Murray, Jr" of Killingworth, Connecticut, attributed to James Greenfield, Roxbury, Massachusetts. Corporal Jonathan Murray, Jr. set out on April 19, 1775. He served for 6 days in the 6th Connecticut Regiment in which he later served until December 19, 1775. The attribution of this horn to Greenfield (no.84) is based on its large deeply incised but crudely executed block letters. The letter "X" in Roxbury is almost identical on both horns. There are two Loreleis on this horn, a lion, and birds and fish, all of which are close to those on Greenfield's horn.
