Description:
Chippendale armchair in cherry and white pine with an upholstered slip-seat, which has the initials "J.B.A." stamped under the right arm. The chair has a molded crest rail with rounded ears over a pierced splat design, which is found on English examples and on the Piscataqua area chairs of New Hampshire. The foreshortened, serpentine arms end in rounded hand grips, supported on curved arm supports that have scrolls at the bases. Both front legs and stretchers are plain and straight.
