Description: The saint stands in frontal pose, a large, circular gold halo with brown border around his head. He has red hair, large eyes and ears, red mustache and beard. He wears ecclesiastical robes of blue and gold, with dark blue bands, white dots in bands. Slender cross in right hand, left hand, crudely depicted, raised toward spectator. Border of red and blue. Inscription: SCS SILVEST along left side.
Provenance: On consignment from Arthur Byne [1884-1935] to the Brummer Gallery, New York, from 6 March 1934; acquired 3 April 1941 by Amherst College.
Label Text: Originally believed to have come from the transept chapel of the Cathedral of La Seo de Virge, Catalonia, recent scholarship believes that the fresco is from the Church of Santa Coloma d'Andorra, the oldest church in Andorra.
