Description:
Red ware pottery fragment of terra cotta, roughly trapezoidal in shape. All edges rough except for small top edge, which appears to have been the rim of the vessel. Inner face has a lighter patch; superimposed on this is a looping line design in brown paint. Rim edge is painted the same color. Outer face is dominated by a similar light patch, and is inscribed "Kharge" in pencil near one edge. This is a variation on"Al-Karijah", a town and regional capital in Al-Wadi Al-Jadid, Egypt. Physically unrelated to 2000.557a-c.INV and 2000.557e-f.INV
