Yuskavage has developed her own style of the female nude, with erotic, cartoonish, angelic young females shown within fantastical landscapes. They appear self absorbed, and can have fetishizing aspects, placing the viewer in an awkward position. Which is intentional, as Yuskavage wants to shock the viewer and has long since moved away from her earlier work, which was more conservative.
