Description:
Hour glass, New England, 18th century. Composed of wood, glass, twine, and rope. The hourglass is composed of a blown greenish (bottle) glass waisted container for sand, it is held within a wooden armature of four vertical pieces of wood and doweled into two round end caps which have double incised circles, four pieces of twine are strung and adhered to the hourglass waist from the top end of the hourglass to the bottom, there are twine loops at both ends for hanging, one of the twine loops has broken and the other is very fragile. The center material surrounding the waist of the hourglass is unknown, but appears to be a fabric.
