Leonardo greatly facilitated the boring of small holes by the invention of the Hand Drill Press. One man could easily rotate the handled wooden wheel which uses a belt drive instead of gears to rotate the drill. For each turn of the large wheel the drill wheel increases in revolutions and easily makes a hole. - Dr. Roberto A. Guatelli
