Description:
Water bucket, spherical with worn leather handle. Red rim, black body. In yellow letters: "R.T. Potter, No. 3, 1835."

Label Text:
Buckets like this were used in “bucket brigades” where a line of men would pass similar containers full of water to fight a blaze. This bucket belonged to R. T. Potter who was a member of the volunteer-based Engine Number 3, perhaps in New Bedford, Massachusetts where Skinner acquired the object.
