SKINNER CATALOGUE:
A modern native spear from Northern Rhodesia, South Africa. The head is made from a hand forged 7/16" diam. iron rod, flattened to the characteristic spear head shape, tapering to a sharp point and with dull cutting edges on both sides. The end of the rod which attaches to the wooden handle is darkened from the heat of the forge and the whole head shows the marks of a finishing file. The head end of the handle is tightly wound for 5 7/8" with flat interlaced reed. The butt end of the handle swells to a slightly larger diameter and is cut off square.
Spear Head: 6 1/2" x 1 1/16". Cat. 6/3/1937.
