Label Text:
This print is signed at lower-right "Toyokuni ga" ('drawn by Toyokuni'). Beneath the signature are the circular kiwame sela of the censor and the mark of publisher Suzuki Ihei. The actor and his role are identified by the text at upper-right. The name of the play is not given but it is has been determined by the presence of the character Yohei. Additionally, it is known that Onoe Matsusuke II played this role at the premiere, which took place in the fifth lunar month of 1810 at the Ichimuraza in Edo. That premiere has also been used as the basis for dating this impression.
