Description:
Vertical composition with seated man in a landscape with ruins, sculptures, skulls; tall trees at left; scroll with inscription at l.l. describing the subject as the philosopher Democritus. James Bergquist (Old Master print dealer; 7.20.2011): "a very nice 18th-century impression."
