Description:
ca. late 19th or early 20th century plaster cast of a bronze original dating to the Classical Period, ca. 450 BCE. This sculpture, attributed to Myron, is a type known as the Discobolus or discus thrower. The cast is a composite of a head based upon the Roman copy of the Greek bronze located at the Palazzo Lancelotti in Rome, Italy and a body based upon the Roman copy of the Greek bronze located at the Vatican Museum.
