Label Text:
At lower-right, this print bears the signature of the artist, which reads "Ippōsai Kuniyasu ga" ('drawn by Ippōsai Kuniyasu'), the circular kiwame seal of the censor, and the mark of publisher Matsumura Tatsuemon. The insciprtion is a poem about the shamisen, a stringed instrument native to Japan and popular as a form of entertainment in the pleasure districts. The poet is identified as Kōnantei Ittoku.
