Description:
Letter related to the family of Sanders Ken Grems Nellis (1817-1865). The letter reads: "Albany April 4th 1836 [?]/ Sir / Please take notice. that a note / of John W ? Martin / for seventeen thousand ($17.000)-------Dollars,/ endorsed by you, was this day Protested for /non-payment, and that you have consequently/ become responsible for the payment of same./ your obed't serv't/ AH Lovett/ Notary Public/ Stephen Leonard Esquire." The outside reads: "AH Lovett/ 36 / Contest [? ]J Martin/ Stephen Leonard Esq/ Lowville [?] / Lewis Co [?]." There are various calculations in pencil on the upper left and lower spaces of the outside of note
