Description:
George, No. 14067
Sir George Wombell (1769-1846), full-face, with head thrust forward, and high shoulders, dressed as a dandy (cf. No. 13029). He has insignificant features with large squinting eyes, a top-hat with very curved brim on the side of his head, trousers strapped over high-heeled spurred boots, a riding-switch in his (limp) hand. There is a landscape background with (r.) a scarecrow supported on a pole, whose limp distorted limbs repeat the silhouette of Wombwell.
There is a second state (not in B.M.) on a broadside with verses, title altered to "Billy bewit(i)ched, or the Chalicot Champion, a Portrait dedicated to Horace Seymour, Esq." Date altered to July 18th. (Cohn, No. 926.)
Reid, No. 961. Cohn, No. 1157.
