Description: English pearlware, molded, narrow oval footrim supports shallow oval dish, decorated with a transfer printed design in underglaze blue. The shallow dish has a pierced rim with holes in an arch shape and two bands of raised blue rope-work at edge of rim and marli. The well has is decorated with a "Willow-ware" type chinoiserie scene with two men in a boat, a chain of small islands with pagodas, running fences, and trees, including evergreens and a large willow; and a band of a quadrille-type pattern with four cartouches with interlaced scrolls around the curvature. The dish is supported on a narrow, oval foot ring. Although it is not a perfect match, the Transferware Collectors Club database's closest pattern to this design is "Temple with Tassels" also known as "Chinese Bell Tower." Purchased by the donor in Longmeadow, MA in 1966. Condition: Glaze has crazed overall and is slightly discolored on upper surface, a T-shaped crack is at 5 o'clock on the marli and rim.
