Description:
English pearlware coffeepot and cover decorated with chinoiserie scenes in underglaze blue. The lid has a round knop with a vent hole over a small scene of a small building flanked by a running fence and a trellis band around the rim. The pot is decorated with a trellis border around the rim over a landscape scene with a pagoda-like building, garden and floral sprays, running fence, and flying birds. There are incised lines around the base of the body and the flared, flat foot; the applied strap handle and coiled spout have small, scrolling decoration.
