Hadley, MA" Written on other side of card: "Merrow, Conn. May 8, 1897. I am sending you by this mail one of the African mabellas or mats of 'grasscloth' of native manufacture. One single piece is an mbougo. They are used not only as mats, but for loin cloths, shoulder cloths, sacks, cushions, sails, and currency as well. One is worth 50 reis Portuguese. The fabric...
