Description:
Latin American artist

Label Text:
Excerpted label text from the Curatorial Fellowship exhibition "Color in Containment," March 22 – April 29, 2018:
Stark fields of black and white can limit the presence of color, but less color in a composition doesn’t always limit its power over the viewer. Omar Rayo’s geometric embossing is an ethereal creature of white paper and soft shadow, stamped by a bold block of pink and orange. This tiny swatch of color is dwarfed by the rest of the composition, but it draws the eye right to the heart of the image and through its vibration electrifies the white ground on which it is impressed. - Margaret Wilson (M.F.A. Studio Art 2019) and Alison Ritacco (M.A. Art History 2019)
