This is a work of the present. – Martha Rosler

Martha Rosler works in video, photography, text, installation, and performance. Her work focuses on the public sphere, exploring issues from everyday life and the media to architecture and the built environment, especially as they affect women. In 1981, she visited Cuba and took a series of photographs exhibited for the first time in 2012, at the Meta-Monumental Garage Sale at MoMA. In 2013, her book of essays, Culture Class, dealing with artists, cities and gentrification, was published by e-flux and Sternberg Press. Her writing is published widely in Artforum and Texte zur Kunst. She lives and works in Brooklyn.
