Label Text:
Edgerton was a professor of electrical engineering at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1931 when he began using a lab instrument called a stroboscope to light photographs. Producing one flash with many short, powerful bursts of light, the stroboscopic method captured six thousand frames per second, freezing movement too quick to be seen by the eye alone.
