Narrative Inscription:  On a piece of paper sewn onto the cloth and attached with a metal pin: "(For the Seminary) Tappa. Made from the bark of a tree. The natives used it for clothing in the Early days of the missionaries. This piece came from the royal possessions of Ms. Bernice Pauahi Bishop. Honolulu, HI" In pen on top right: "29" In pen on bottom left: "M.E. Spondi"

Missionary Cabinet. Irregular fragment of sandy-colored thin cloth, with darkened discolorations throughout. Folded twice and wrinkled.
