Narrative Inscription:  On an envelope in ink: "Cloth made by the natives of the Sandwich Islands previous to Missionary days - given to Miss Mary M. Stevens, a teacher at Mt Holyoke Sem. By Miss Thurston a daughter of Rev. Asa Thurston. She was also a teacher at Mt. Holyoke in Mary Lyons day." Also on envelope in pencil: "Missions - Hawaii."

Description:
Missionary Cabinet. Irregularly shaped fragment, folded twice horizontally. Decorated with dyed pattern in orange and black, consisting of a series of thin orange horizontal stripes, small black circle, and a black chevron pattern on sand colored cloth. Discoloration from a liquid spill at bottom right, two small tear holes, and burn (?) marks at bottom left.
