Description:
Triangular, dark, gray stone with seated Buddhist figure incised in lines. The gesture the figure is holding is called ‘Vitarka’, the teaching mudra. It is often held by a learned Tibetan monk, or a Tibetan scholar. Indicated by the inscription below the image, which says ‘Kyab Ney Lama Rinchen Gyatso la Namo’ and translates to "[I] prostrate to [my] Lama Rinchen Gyatso." The image is Lama Rinchen Gyasto and the stone was probably carved by one of the students of Rinchen Gyasto.
