Description:
English delft ointment pot, probably London, circa 1670-1720.Truncated albarello form with a flaring rim and footrim, the whole covered in a pale buff-colored glaze, perhaps originally white, the base unglazed and revealing the buff-colored clay. 2 1/8 in h x 2 ¾ in diam. Inscribed on the unglazed base in black ink: “Apothecaries Cup / Bow Lane / (De Aquila)…”. Condition: Minor chips, and wear to the glaze, especially on the rim and footrim.
