Label Text:
This device represents Leonardo's practical application of the Variable Speed Drive system to facilitate either mixing or separating. Six cogged gears of varying diameters, lowered into place by turning the top handle, are meshed with a large cylinder drum or mixer. The bottom handle rotates the cogged gears which ultimately drive the cylinder drum at six different speeds increasing with the size of the gear. The idea of different speeds of rotation has been developed for application in modern industry.- Dr. Roberto A. Guatelli
