Description:
Circular child’s plate, molded on rim with floral border of diasies and roses, transfer printed in center of well: “No Handicraft can with/Our art compare/ We make our Pots of/What we Potters are.” The inscription is set within a painted framed rectangular surround. Plate is decorated with high temperature, underglaze oxide colors or Pratt colors - brown, blue, green, yellow. Impressed flower or star stamp on the underside of plate. Paper label on underside reads: "19-S-05-1/Pratt "Potter's Art'/ Child's Plate 1810." Possibly an old label (mostly gone) for Alistair Sampson.
