Description:
Head with close-fitting cap crown, decorated with roundels and uraeus extending from brow over top of head; prominent ears. Head cut at shoulders (in modern times?) from body of a king.

Label Text:
Dominating Egypt’s hierarchical society was the king, whose proper conduct—particularly toward the gods—helped assure the country’s well-being. This unidentified ruler wears a cap-like crown with a cobra ornament, elements of Egyptian royal regalia. The head may have been part of a statuette showing the king making an offering to a god, and was perhaps a votive gift left by a worshipper at a temple. (Sept. 2016)
