Description:
Statues, serving as independent cult images, were placed in niches, chapels, and platforms and against the walls of religious buildings. The Bodhisattva usually displays a halo and other ornamentation since he was believed to represent a king. Such an image could be a cult object or a subsidiary figure beside the Buddha in an elaborate composition.
