SKINNER LABEL: Banister Back Side Chair, New England or "Northern", Scalloped top rail, split balusters, ring turned posts and front stretchers, spheroidal finials. Maple posts, hickory stretchers. Late 18th century.
SKINNER CATALOGUE: Chair. A late 18th century "Northern" banister back side chair. Posts and back maple, stretchers hickory. Scalloped top rail, straight bottom rail. Four split balusters, wide ring turned near bottom, double ring turned near top to match turnings on back posts. Back posts plain below the rail, well turned acorn finial. Front posts ring turned. Two front stretchers double ring turned and slightly concave; two side and single back, low on the posts, are plain. Twisted rush seat not original. Height: back 41 3/4" seat 14 1/4" Diam. posts 1 23/32" Cat. 8/20/1936
