Label Text:
SKINNER CATALOGUE: Chair. A late 18th or early 19th century "Northern" splat back arm chair. Maple throughout, except for bottom rail, two side and bottom front stretchers, which are hickory. Plain saddle top rail, straight bottom rail, inverted vase splat. Back posts plain below the arms, ring and long vase turned above, with simple spheroidal finials. Front posts ring turned. Three front stretchres ring and long vase turned and show some wear. Three side and single back stretchers plain. Posts and stretchers below the second front have been added on. Arms recessed, notched on the inside to form a circular end, with vase turned supports from top side stretchers to arms; the supports not being original. Twisted rush seat not original. Height: back 44 7/8" seat 17 1/4" Diam. posts 1 5/8" Cat. 8/20/1936
