SKINNER CATALOGUE: An 18th century "Northern" banister back side chair. Posts and back and front seat and lower back stretchers are maple, other stretchers are hickory. Saddle top rail with the posts tenoning into it, bottom rail straight and triangular in section. Three flat reeded balusters. Back posts ring, vase, and taper turned between rails. Front posts ring and vase turned, ending in worn ball feet, and tenoning into the diamond shaped ends of the front seat stretcher, which is flat. Single front stretcher ring and vase turned, and well worn. Lower front stretcher has been removed. Two side and single back stretchers plain; seat stretchers, other than front, round. Twisted rush seat not original. Cat. 8/20/1936
