Label Text:
SKINNER CATALOGUE: An 18th century "Northern" banister back side chair. Posts and two middle balusters (replacements) maple; rails, stretchers, and outer balusters hickory. Top rail strongly scalloped at top, beaded at bottom, top beveled at the back; bottom rail straight and beaded. Two middle balusters plain, outer ring turned to match turnings on posts. Back posts plain below rail, with ball and nub finial. Front posts ring turned. Two front stretchers double ball and vase turned and show some wear. Two side and single back stretchers plain. Seat of flat thin shaved wood, woven 2/2 twill, probably original, some time painted red. Cat. 8/20/1936
