SKINNER CATALOGUE: Chair. A "Central" slat back child's rocking side chair, the turnings giving the indication that it is a 19th century reproduction. Maple throughout. Four slats, ogival, tenoned into the posts, the top slat pegged. Back posts plain, with ovoid turned finials and tapered feet. Front posts have shallow triple ring turnings which appear to be machine done, and tapered feet. Single front stretcher has three shallow double ring turnings. Two side stretchers and single back are plain. Heavy board rockers, screwed to recesses in the posts, are the type which were added to stand chairs in making the early rockers. Twisted rush seat not original. height: back 28 1/4" seat 13 1/2" Diam. posts 1 3/16" Cat. 8/20/1936.
