Label Text:
SKINNER CATALOGUE: Chair. An early 19th century slat back side chair. Posts maple, slats pine, stretchers hickory. Painted a very dark brown with no decorations. Three slats with straight lower edge and moderately curved top, tenoned into the posts, the top slat pegged. Back and front posts, two front, two side, and single back stretchers, all plain except for long turned bulbous finials. Front stretchers show considerable wear. Seat of thin shaved 1.2 inch wood banding, woven 2 and 2 twill. Height: back 37 7/8" seat 15" Diam. post 1 1/2" Cat. 8/20/1936.
