SKINNER CATALOGUE: Chair. An 18th century "Central" or Pennsylvania slat back side chair. Maple throughout. Five slats (the most common number in the Central type), ogival, tenoned into the posts, the top one pegged. Top slat has been repaired. Back posts entirely plain, slightly tapering, with simple spheroidal finials. Front posts plain and terminate just above the seat. Three stretchers at front and sides and two at back are plain. The extra stretchers are due to an extra 6 1/2 inches being added to the bottom of the posts. Twisted rush seat not original. Height: back 44 3/4" seat 16" Diam. posts 1 5/8" Cat. 8/20/1936.
