Label Text:
SKINNER CATALOGUE: A 19th century child's painted fancy side chair. Painted blue gray with gilt stencillings, dark gray bandings and black linings. Top rail set on a half joint at the top of the back posts, triple ring turned, with oblong center enlargement decorated with a stenceilled leaf design in gilt. Center slat a straight rail surmounted by a wide scrolled rail cutout with gilt stencilling. Bottom slat narrow, straight, with dark gray band and black line edging. Back posts raked, line turned just above seat, terminating in a semi scroll; front legs line turned, tapered, and with small ball feet. Single front stretcher ball and line turned, two side and single back stretchers plain. Twisted reed seat probably not original. Height: back 26" seat 13 1/2" Diam. legs 1 7/16" Cat. 8/20/1936
