SKINNER CATALOGUE: Chair. A middle 19th century low side rocking chair in the deteriorative painted fancy chair style. Painted a very dark brown with yellow decorative stencillings and linings. Two wide straight slats, shaped, with original, but badly faded, grape and leaf stencillings, the top one set into a half joint at the top of the posts, the lower tenoned in. Back posts spread towards the top, line turned just above the seat, front legs ring turned just below the seat. Single front stretcher ring and line turned and tapered, two side and single back stretchers plain. Rockers cyma curved on top each end. Twisted rush seat not original. Height: 29 1/8" seat 15 1/2" Diam. legs 1 7/8" Cat. 8/20/1936
