Description:
Silver tear-shaped box with borders in scratch engraving on both covers. Tulip with two long leaves on top cover and very simple form of a Tudor rose and initials "MR" on bottom cover. Two heavy three-lug hinges are set on the back and join between the hinges. Covers close on raise ribs and fixed silver grater punched to follow casing.
From original card: William and Mary. Double lid. By "TK" (Thomas Kedder). Tulip cover. From Gilber Rayner Collection, Lake Forest. Teardrop-shaped.

Label Text:
Nutmeg was a rare and valuable spice used sparingly for medicinal and curative purposes. The grater is engraved with a tulip, a rose, and the initials “MR.”
