Description:
ID))): This stained glass pane features a nautical scene depicting a large sail battleship, the so-called "ship of the line," with multiple masts and billowing sails near shore. The two tri-color flags of red, white, and blue bands suggest the ownership of the Dutch Republic at that time. The ship is equipped with cannons. One of the cannons has just fired; you can see flames and smoke rising from it. The back is adorned with elaborate wood carvings and golden decorations, including a coat of arms. On the left, near the horizon line, you can see the landscape with a robust fortified compound. Behind its walls is a domed building with a crescent moon, a symbol of Islam. In the lower portion of the pane, there's an ornate scroll with a script indicating a caption or dedication related to the image above and an inscription with the date "Anno 1669".
