Description:
English pearlware bowl decorated in blue with a chinoiserie scene of a man fishing, two people standing to the right, building with a man standing inside, birds, and foliage; there is a decorative border on the inside rim. This bowl was listed in the 1920 catalogue in the Main Hall, given by Mrs. C. E. B. Allen: "58. Bowl. Blue and white China". See HD L93.01.5 for the ownership history of the bowl and the related Williams pieces. This is the only pearlware piece; the others are Chinese export porcelain. [MHD 58]
