Description:
A percussion cap pocket pistol, with butt, stock, and barrel a single piece. Engraved iron frame. 3" barrel, half octagonal, half round, divided walnut handle, straight, hinging top hammer (center hammer, bar type), marked ALLENS PATENT. The patent , no.3998, was granted to Ethan Allen of Norwich, Connecticut, on August 16, 1845, and was for operating the hammer and trigger with a single spring instead of with three as formerly. Property of Henry Hoisington, who was a sailor in the Civil War. Presented by Mr. Henry E. Rockefeller, of Holyoke, MA.
