Description:
Original label: "A very fine English five chamber revolver. Blue steel throughout, black walnut full checkered grip. Operates with powder, wad, and lead bullet loaded from the forward end of the cylinder and rammed home by a lever which folds back against the handle when not in use. Octagonal barrel, smooth bore, two set sights, self cocking hammer. Cylinder held by a sliding, axial rod. Fine scroll design engraving (not elaborate) on barrel, hammer plate, trigger guard, and butt plate. Engraved on the barrel "DEANE, ADAMS & DEANE. No. 30 King William St London Bridge" with two British proof marks. One proof mark and No. 15372.R. on the cylinder. Engraved on the hammer plate "ADAM'S PATENT No.15,372.R.".

Tools for use with the revolver are: bronze bullet mold, 6 5/8" long, numbered 7 and 54 and stamped with a crown and REGISTERED R. ADAMS Nov. 1851; 4 7/8" bronze and steel socket wrench for inserting the cap nipples, with black walnut handle, into which screws a pick for cleaning the nipples; 15/32" steel drive punch for cutting the wads - numbered 52; 9" walnut rod with 2 1/8" brass head, ridged and stepped, for cleaning the barrel and chambers; tiny pewter grease can, 1" x 3/4" diam., with pick fastened to the inside of the screw cap, marked DIXON & SONS; 5 1/4" light brown metal powder flask, with ring at the base and with brass measuring head and blue steel spring on opening valve, marked JAMES DIXON & SONS SHEFFIELD and 4/8 5/8 6/8 drams. Some black powder still in the flask; 10 spare nipples; 18 lead balls, with 14 wads; chamois bag containing 270 copper jacketted caps in firing condition. Label on bag reads: Eley's Metal-lined Anti Corrosive Percussion Caps. Manufactory London. Registd. March 1850. On the other side a label - From Deane, Adams & Deane, Gun Makers to his R.H.Prince Albert. 30 King William St London Bridge. Made expressly for Deane, Adams & Deane's Patent Revolver.
The whole contained in an oak box, 14 3/8" x 7 3/4" x 2 3/8", partitioned and green felt lined. Yellow label pasted on the inside of the cover - DEANE, ADAMS & DEANE, Gun Makers, by appointment, to H.R.H. Prince Albert. 30 King William Street, London Bridge. Factory and Shooting Gallery, ...Maze, Tooley Street. Scratched on the bottom of the box: A. MORDECAI (Private)."
