Description:
United States Springfield breech loading single shot rifle, model 1873. Full length walnut stock to 3 1/8" from muzzle, 32 1/4" round blue steel barrel, elevation sight at rear, set sight on front. Single flat swivel on trigger guard, double on forward band. 18" triangular grooved blue steel bayonet. Marked on the lock plate "US SPRINGFIELD" and a United States eagle. Marked on the top of the barrel "V P" and an eagle's head. Marked on top of the lock "US Model 1873 499109". Marked "US" on top of butt plate and on bayonet. "SWP 1889" stamped into the butt on the left side near hammer. S stamped on under side of butt. Complete and in good condition.
