SKINNER CATALOG: An ox yoke, consisting simply of a shaped pine yoke with two non adjustable hickory collars and with a heavy iron ring in the center fastened to a wrought iron plate and staple. The collars are held from slipping by Hotchkiss fasteners, patented July 17, 1849, no. 6592, to Andrew Hotchkiss of Sharon, Connecticut. The patent is for a malleable iron pin, which is inserted through a hole in the collar, with two curved arms which grasp the collar and are held by a curved spring. This "ox-yoke fastening" is marked faintly: Patented July 17, 1849
