Description:
This rattle, either made for the tourist trade or for use during kachina ceremonies by a black and white striped Clown (Koshari) kachina, is made of a hollowed gourd that has been painted to resemble a Clown's head. Two pointed wooden "horns" are attached to the rattle, which is painted with a Clown's face and characteristic stripes. Feathers protrude from the "horns." The handle of the rattle is made out of cottonwood root. AP2018
